Executive Coaching for an Inner London College Principle
The situation
A large inner London College was facing an OFSTED inspection. Carol, the Principal came to coaching shortly before the inspection. She suspected the college was on its way to failing. Carol used the coaching to clarify her strategy, maintain her personal energy and explore ways of motivating her team through the inspection process.
Our approach
She met with her coach for One and a half to two hour sessions usually every 2-4 weeks. With her coach she focused on her strengths and found ways to apply them to work situations. The coach used techniques to daw out Carols knowledge, resources, skills and ideas for action that enabled her to take immediate action towards improving her performance and making significant and lasting changes.
Outcome
The college passed the inspection with Carol maintaining good mental and physical health throughout the process. She developed strategies and approaches to inspire and motivate her team which resulted in a longer term strategy and approach being developed and implemented following the inspection.
Carol reflects, “I have benefitted enormously (from the coaching), gaining insight into situations where I had previously lacked clarity and developing a long term approach which I can use in the future in a wide variety of challenging situations. Furthermore, the institution has gained enormously from my coaching. My leadership of the College and the senior team in handling challenging situations has been invigorated and made more flexible through the coaching I have received.”
